NeimanLab tells how a hyper-local publisher in Palm Springs, California, set out to turn an AI model into a reporter. They say Mark Talkington’s motivation was curiosity – as the master of mostly everything for his publication, he wanted to see if an AI tool could save him time.

Talkington named his model “Paul” after a human reporter he didn’t get to hire.
