The Guardian reports a hoaxer combined generative AI tools to have an opinion piece published by Irish Times. Contacted by The Guardian, the presumed perpetrator admitted using one AI tool to create 80% of the article and another to generate an identity picture.

The hoaxer told the Guardian they wanted to stir debate about identity politics and to amuse their friends.
