Could your next favorite artist be a robot? | AI BUSINESS

‘AIVA has read and analyzed 30,000 of history’s greatest scores, from which, via machine learning, she has learned to predict melody movement, harmony arrangement and sequences in rhythm.’

Luxemburg-based AIVA Technologies has developed an algorithm that generates music based on up to 30 parameters. AIVA stands for Artificial Intelligence Virtual Artist.

Users can tune the algorithm with a menu of variables that include mood, style, and genre. Among the uses could be musical scoring for productions, backgrounds for vocalists, or as an AI muse for human composers.

You can hear AIVA’s work in this sampler:

The story also references AI-generated music in two other areas:

  • Music tutoring
  • Club DJ work
