“Entertainment companies including Disney and Netflix are experimenting with AI tools for a variety of production, user experience and marketing work. But many have been wary of a wholesale embrace in part because they fear upsetting actors and writers, whose guilds have fought for protections against tools they say could cost their members work.”

A $30 million dollar proof-of-concept project for genetative AI is in the works for the big screen. An animated featured called “Critterz” will be produced with OpenAI models, with characters sketched by human artists and voiced by human actors, according to The Wall Street Journal.

They expect the project to take about three years, significantly less time (and involving less cost) than an equivalent project using traditional methods.
