It appears that human intervention to pre-correct certain AI-generated imagery prompted incorrect results. When asked to portray scenes with Vikings or WW II soldiers. Google’s newest image generator was displaying visible minorities in place of historically-accurate figures.

The Guardian quotes a Google spokesperson saying they will make changes in their model right away.

Google’s Gemini image generator will no longer depict people until the issue is resolved.
